Conclusions and References

Susan It really is striking. Even rats with induced diabetes became indistinguishable from healthy rats once they were on a ketogenic diet. And it is also striking that the ketogenic-diet rats ate a comparable amount of food to the healthy rats. Actually my husband has been like that recently โ€” eating and eating but not gaining weight. Later we found out it was diabetes, so what he ate was running out in his urine. No wonder he kept saying he was tired and had no energy. I had been planning his meals all wrong.

Emily Childhood diabetes has been rising lately, and schools are worried. I think I'll talk with the other parents and meet with our principal and school nutritionist. School lunches are the principal's call, so if enough parents agree, plant-based ketogenic lunches are not impossible.

Dr. Lee (smiling brightly) Yes, that's a wonderful idea. Shall we end today's class here?
